Another Journey

Alex laid in bed with a bottle of whiskey in hand. His mind had been running a lot more lately and he had felt the need to simply end it, but with his girls in mind, he had always find an excuse why to never give up. It didn't mean drowning his sorrow in alcohol would be any better but so long as it refrained him front just putting a bullet through his head, it was the best he could do. He got up and threw on his clothes not bothering  to shave as he walked out of the house. What could he do?

"Babys are weird." She told him as she slid out of the car and waited for her dad to grab her baby brother. "What was i like a baby?" She asked curiously.

"Just like Aj."Alex answered and walked into the parlor and held Aj's carrier close and ordered Aubrey her ice cream then his own and sat down at the table.

Aubrey sat down at the table and began to eat her Ice cream, She swayed side to side and hummed a song.

Alex ate his ice cream quietly and thought back to his former wife.

Aubrey looked up at her father and thought for a second. She wanted to ask him about her mother but she new it hurt him to talk about her.

Noticing Aubrey's look of curiosity he tilted his head. "What is it baby?"

Aubrey quickly shook her head then looked at her ice cream. "Do you think." She paused looking up at him only with her eyes. "Mommy will come back?" She asked quietly.

"I...Don't know Aubrey." Alex admitted and put a hand on hers. "Even if she doesn't I'm here you know that."

Aubrey smiled at her father as she finished her ice cream.

Alex leaned in to kiss her forehead then got up and held Aj's carrier firmly to him as he made his way out to the park.

Aubrey followed her father to the park. Once they reached it she took off to play on the big toy, she watched as the other children played with eqch other and frowned then made her way to the swings.

Alex watched and held his son close to him.

Jacki sat on the swing holding Destry and gazed at him curiously. "You don't really look like me do you?" She murmured.

Aubrey heard a familiar voice as she swung. She came to a stop and looked over to see her mom. "Mommy!" She yelled then quickly jumped off the swing and ran over to her.

Alex looked over a bit confused as he noticed Jacki out at the swing. Looks like he'd be needing triple the amount of alcohol to get through tonight. He looked away feeling sick wondering if it was from the night before's hard liquor or his nerves.

Jacki blinked as she was hugged and realized it was her daughter, bringing her in close she hugged her back. "Hi baby." She said and kissed her cheek. "Be careful or you will hurt your baby brother." She said gently as she shifted Destry in her grip who wriggled around uncomfortably.

Alex felt his heart pound harder and he put an arm on his stomach as he spilled his guts on the ground and raised his head to wipe his mouth then focus his reddened gaze on the sky ignoring Aj's cries. The two were only cared for in the day but come the night it was them on their own since he would be drunk out of his mind.

Aubrey looked down at the baby oddly. "Baby brother?" She asked kinda confused then she looked over to her father. "Look Daddy mommy came back! i knew it!" She said cheerfully.

Jacki frowned as Alex vomited and turned to Aubrey. "Is your dad sick?" She asked and stood up to go see Aj. "Hi baby." She greeted.

Aj wiggled in his carrier while wailing. He was hungry and extremely hot in his clothing and was beginning to barely recognize either of his parents.

Alex turned his attention onto Jacki not surprised to see her near Aj. He wasn't too concerned because as far as she knew he was taking care of him just fine. At least he thought so.

Jacki turned to Alex and frowned. "Alex you can't be putting him in this much clothes when it's this hot out." She scolded and began to take a few of the clothing items off of Aj. "Here she murmured and reached into her bag to give Aj a bottle. "Here spend some time with your son." She said and passed him Destry.

Alex snapped back to reality as Destry was passed back to him and looked a bit surprised to see how much he had grown. "Des." He said his name and ran a hand through his hair gently. "Hey buddy."


Aj suckled from the bottle hungrily as his mother put it to his lips.  He was immediately feeling a lot better.

Destry gurgled and wiggled his feet.

Jacki kissed Aj's face and stood up. "Alex, I can tell when you're hungover."

Alex looked at his former wife with grit teeth as he held Destry in closer to him. "No shit. Do you think I care?" He got up and grasped her by the front of the shirt and leaned in close to her ear. "I promise you I'm not going to wake up one day." He murmured.

Jacki blinked as she was grabbed and narrowed her eyes. "Grow up Alex it's not about you and your feelings anymore. It hasn't been since the day I got pregnant with Nirvana." She snapped. "You need to be here for them and be there to teach them and love them."
