Dusting The Memories

After a year things had managed to drastically fall around everyone. Benjamin himself had been watching cautiously but while everyone lost their heads he had managed to build a fortress out of his home. His roof was where he was the eye in the sky, his home, well the one he and Ashlee's shared was now the only sanctuary. Of course he wasn't the only one with the idea of a homey fortress, Jay had mimicked his actions as did a few others but some of their plans had not gone all well. A good example was Alex. The tough guy couldn't even manage to keep his girl and daughters safe. He had to save their asses, something he almost regretted doing, then offer them sanctuary in his own home. He didn't mind him around for bait though.
Others like James who just stuck around was fine with him. He was his best friend anyway.
For a murderer, the walkers were a joke. Those who had once never drove a knife through a body were now doing it daily simply for survival. Despite it being overrated he still enjoyed his time out. He walked down stairs and into his room to glance over at the crib where his one week old son rested. Things were getting tough with the supplies running low nearby. He needed a scavenger hunt for more supplies and soon.

"So let me get this straight." Cece said sitting up. "I can barely defend myself and you want me to throw myself out there to do what?"

"To run!" James shouted, appalled. "Do you think I wouldn't protect you? Fine, fucking stay here and get bitten." he snapped, going back downstairs and out the door without another word.

Cece watched him go and bit her lip balling up her fist. She looked out the window at the horde and swallowed back anxiety. It wasn't long ago when she was taking them out like stepping on ants. She grabbed her backpack and glanced down at her stomach before picking up Chase and wrapping him up in a blanket firmly. Hell like she needed him anyway. "It's okay Chase, look I can protect all of us." She reassured the baby and held a gun in one hand hoping she was as great as shot as she used to be as she began to travel quietly out the back door in the opposite direction from James. She was just going to have to follow instinct.

Kitty anxiously awaited for her brother. "Come on James we have to go now." She said and began to venture forward toward the walkers fighting her way through to her parents.

James followed her, easily taking out any walker that came near him or Kitty, using them to release his frustration.

Once arriving at the house she began to look around the house for her parents. "Mom, dad! We have to go!" She told them quickly.

"What is it kiddo?" Griffin asked a bit surprised.

"Horde of walkers." Thomas responded through a grunt. "I need to get Seth, you guys leave if you want because I'm not going anywhere without him."

James stood outside, defending the house while Kitty went in to get everyone.

Griffin grabbed Jane and guided them out to his car and got in followed by Kitty. "Thomas take the second car and search for us." He said tossing him the keys before getting in.

Kitty looked at James and gestured for him. "Come on James! Where's Cece?"

James ignored her and got in the car.

Kitty looked at her brother in disbelief as he had gotten in without a word. Assuming the worse had happened she grimly turned her back to him and crossed her arms.

"She'll be fine." James muttered.

Kitty shot him a look before looking out the window. She wasn't going to comment on his decision.

James huffed and crossed his arms.

Kitty slowly glanced back then over at her father wondering where he would be taking them now. She felt a bit sick to her stomach leaving Cece behind, she could've been her friend.

James frowned. "Dammit Kitty." he growled, getting out of the car and running off to find Cece.

"James!" Kitty shouted almost bounding out after him but quickly decided against it and shut the door as her father requested for her to stay put.

Cece held Chase firmly against her chest having been running for a bit now she had grown extremely exhausted. Everywhere she turned it was walker after walker in the woods. The gun would attract more by the minute if she fired. She swirled around as she noticed them beginning to surround her again and slowly raised her gun to fire a few shots only to realize it had been on it's final five. She wrapped both arms around Chase and looked around for desperately for an escape and broke into a run again.

James ran in the direction of the gunshots, figuring that would be her.

Cece looked around and continued to run glancing back every now and then till she felt herself bump into someone. She looked up and realized it was Dustin and gave a small sigh of relief. "Dust." She said quickly.

Dustin rubbed his head tiredly as he held a ax. "That's me." He nodded. "Why are you alone in the woods pregnant and carrying an infant? You out your God damn mind?"

"Do you think I had a choice?" Cece asked panting heavily and put a hand on her stomach at a few pains. "Ow." She mumbled.

After outrunning several walkers, James paused, waiting to hear anything else. As more walkers caught up, he continued to run wherever he thought she would most likely go.

"Come on let me get you to my tree house place." Dustin said taking Chase from her.

"Hold on." Cece said now resting bother hands on her stomach with eyes shut tightly waiting for it to subside. Too much running was pretty bad in her case.

Dawn nodded to the kids to encourage them gently.

Ashlee pushed Ben off as she heard the door cash open and immediately her thoughts were on Mason. Standing up she grabbed her blow dryer off the counter and ran into the room he was in, smashing the hair device across the back of their heads to pick up her baby.

Nathan quickly jumped out and felt his fathers arms catch him before he hit the ground and grinned a bit excitedly.

Jay gestured for the others. "Come on, Emmy you can do this." He called to her.

Ben blinked in surprise as she had pushed him off and looked a bit confused till he noticed Alex's words were true. He pulled on his clothes abruptly and grabbed his machete off the floor taking out a few walkers at a time to defend his family. "Grab the stuff and let's head out the back door."

Emery shook her head pointing for Genie to go first. "No!" She squealed and hugged onto her mothers leg.

Ashlee nodded and grabbed the stuff as quickly as she could, pulling on some clothes a she did before throwing him a pair of pants so he wasn't totally exposed.

Genie shook her head rapidly. "No mama no." She whimpered and glanced at the door where there was louder banging.

Benjamin slipped them on and began to fight  his way out gesturing for her to follow.

Jay groaned. "Come on! Dawn!" He shouted and glanced down beneath him where the walkers began to gather. Glancing back at the walkers he exhaled and tried to calm himself.

Thomas barged into Seth's room and grabbed him. "Come on man we have to go."

James narrowed his eyes as he spotted Cece and Dustin. Immediately he was at Cece's side, supporting her slightly. "Are you okay?" he asked quickly.

Cece glared at James before turning around and kicking him in the crotch as hard as she could. "Asshole." She said beneath her breath.
